Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and one year of clerical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

An Associate’s Degree (AA or AS) or higher in a public health related area; one year experience working with Microsoft Office computer systems; one year experience having utilized electronic health systems with confidential patient information; one year training or experience in a medical or public health setting; one year experience interacting with the public such as in a customer service related field; and knowledge of STD’s and HIV.


The Clerk II provides clerical support to eight staff in the Central New York Regional Office. It is a front-line position that serves as a primary program interface with a wide variety of individuals ranging from public health partners to medical providers and program consumers. The position assists in the review process of laboratory reports which are used in the investigative process to intervene in the transmission of STDs. The position is responsible for answering the phone and responding to telephone inquiries.  This position is stationed in a secured area of the regional office where highly confidential HIV related information is gathered, processed and stored. Work requires attention to detail. Other clerical duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
