Bachelor’s degree in biology, biomedical science or related natural sciences field and one year of related experience. A Master's degree may substitute for the one year of experience.
Molecular biology experience with PCR amplification techniques and sequencing assays. Familiarity with clinical molecular workflow. Understanding of aseptic technique. Laboratory experience with human pathogens. Basic computer skills. Statistical software analysis experience.
The Assistant Research Scientist will assist in the development, validation and application of molecular assays for viruses, including real-time PCR, conventional sequencing, and next generation sequencing for genomic analysis of vaccine preventable viral diseases. The incumbent will also be responsible for general laboratory maintenance and the preparation and compilation of data reports and summaries. Other related duties as assigned.
Grant funded position. Part-time (50%). Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
