A Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in the research, analysis, and/or evaluation of health-related programs; OR an Associate's degree and four years of such experience; OR six years of such experience. A Master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of experience.
Experience in public health surveillance, HIV/AIDS surveillance or other complex surveillance systems. Experience with analysis using epidemiological principles and methodologies. Experience with SQL programming, SAS or other statistical software and relational databases. Experience with large, population-based and other health-related data sets (e.g., SPARCS, ECLRS), disease registries. Experience working with confidential data. Experience working in LAN based environments and MS Outlook and Office Suite. Demonstrated experience with oral presentation, written and oral communication skills.
Under the direction of a Research Scientist III, the HIV Molecular Epidemiology (HIVME) Data Manager will participate in the development and implementation of epidemiological reporting and surveillance activities involving molecular HIV surveillance data (MHS). Specific duties include: evaluating adequacy and completeness of MHS data and reporting on the anti-retroviral drug resistance and molecular transmission cluster; conducting special analyses of MHS and other HIV epidemiologic data; reviewing and revising existing information products; developing procedures for transmission cluster analyses; and conducting written and/or oral presentations to BHAE, HIVME staff and external parties, as required. Additionally, the incumbent will focus efforts on HIVME performance measurement and special evaluation, including working with the CDC to implement new molecular HIV surveillance tools and training in accordance with CDC requirements.
Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
