Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Social Sciences, or related field; OR an Associate’s degree in a related field and two years of experience in that field; OR four years of related experience.
Graduate degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Social Sciences, or related field. Experience in collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data, using GIS, education and outreach activities, and report writing. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Word, Access, Excel, & Powerpoint. Experience in a public health program serving vulnerable populations or human services. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
The Public Health Specialist I will support a NYS Climate Ready States and Cities Initiative to further understand the impacts of climate change on the health of New Yorkers. The incumbent will provide assistance to the program as it conducts an evaluation of potential climate change and health adaptation interventions and develop proposals to pilot test them with local health departments. These interventions will focus on heat, extreme weather, vector-borne diseases, and food/water-borne diseases. Duties will include engaging stakeholders and partners; collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data; conducting education and outreach activities; and assisting with developing Climate & Health Initiatives. Other related duties as assigned.
Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
