Bachelor's degree AND five years of relevant experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience. Relevant experience must be in disaster preparedness AND response AND program management of at least regional or statewide projects. At least three years of experience must include supervision of staff and/or program management. Ability to respond to emergencies as needed, this may occur after hours and/or on weekends. Program management must include at least three of the following: program planning, program implementation, program evaluation, program monitoring, preparation of grant requests/reports, development and implementation of policy/procedures, contract management, staffing and staff development, intergovernmental communications and relations.
Master's degree in related field AND at least five years of management level work experience in public health, health care program management or emergency preparedness and response. At least two years of experience supervising staff. Experience in the development of comprehensive public health and health care system strategic planning among diverse preparedness partners. Knowledge and experience with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) and Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) Cooperative Agreement. Successful course completion of IC 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800.
The Office of Health Emergency Preparedness (OHEP) Deputy Director will be responsible for directing cross-cutting public health and healthcare emergency preparedness activities. This includes direct supervision of those who have responsibility for: public health and healthcare system emergency preparedness training, exercises, volunteer coordination, information management and data collection across the Department of Health, survey development, implementation and reporting from public health and healthcare partners to support health emergency planning and response activities; interacting with Executive level staff at the local, State, and Federal levels; and serving as executive administrative and fiscal liaison for the Department’s response to emergency events.
