High School Diploma or equivalent and three years of general office experience.
Experience with MS Office, including Excel, Word and Access. Experience preparing reports. Knowledge of vital records documents and handling of highly confidential materials. Supervisory experience. Ability to multi-task and to work independently and as part of a team.
The Senior Clerk will process birth data and transgender certificates, consistent with New York State Public Health Law. Specific duties will include: sending out applications for birth data and transgender certificates, keeping track of the applications that have been sent out and the cases that have been processed, processing new birth certificates, sending out rejection letters, and answering phone and email inquiries about application requirements; handling cases that require approval from legal, such as orders to show cause and gestational carrier; completing an amendment verification checklist sheet for every adoption that is mailed out; completing a weekly report detailing the amount of new mail received, cases completed, and rejections for backlog purposes; reviewing and modifying retention files for rejected cases; and supervising staff. Other related duties as assigned.
Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
