  • Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field and two years of research experience in the collection and evaluation of data; OR an Associate's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field and four years of such experience; OR six years of such experience. A Master's degree may substitute for one year of experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Master’s degree in Public Health. Experience collecting and analyzing public health data, conducting literature searches, and summarizing findings. Experience with Excel, Power Point, and Word, SAS, or other statistical analysis software.

    Responsibilities

    The incumbent will join a team that includes public health professionals, data analysts, and academic researchers planning and carrying out a public health law research project evaluating the impact of recent state legislation requiring paid family leave (PFL).  Specific duties will include: analyzing the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) to assess changes in use of PFL/unpaid leave after pregnancy, changes in maternal behaviors, depressive symptoms, health outcomes, and changes in infant health outcomes, and then evaluate how these changes differ by demographic variables; analyzing and linking Birth Certificate and Immunization Registry data; analyzing PFL data on total enrollment of employees and by type of employer (private versus public), industry type, and size of business (number of employees), region of the state (urban versus rural area); analyzing PFL benefit data to assess employee’s use of this benefit over time (both across the state and by subgroups); conducting and summarizing literature searches; and drafting portions of reports, posters, and manuscripts. Other related duties as assigned.

    Conditions of Employment

    Grant funded position through 9/30/19. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
