  • Minimum Qualifications

     


    Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics, Mathematics, Health Informatics or a related field and three years of research experience in the collection and evaluation of data or an Associate's degree in a related field and five years of such experience or seven years of such experience.  A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of the required experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Master’s Degree in Public Health or related field and two years of experience in public health research and surveillance.  Proficiency in data analysis, database and statistical software, interpretation and dissemination of data for varied audiences.   Background and experience managing and analyzing large public health data files.  Experience extracting, collapsing, sorting, and combining data from multiple sources.   Intermediate or advanced proficiency using SAS including proficient use of SAS BASE, SQL, GRAPH, STAT, ODS, MACRO.  Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.  Demonstrated ability to produce visualizations, summarize complex technical information, and communicate related information to a variety of audiences. Excellent written and communications skills. Works well independently and as a member of a team.

    Responsibilities

    Support the Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement’s Data and Analysis Unit in maintaining the integrity of the reported controlled substance prescription data to the New York State Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP).  This will include the creation and implementation of a series of data edit reports that allow the identification of prescription records that are outliers and potentially represent faulty, erroneous, or inaccurate data.  Design and create annual report of PMP prescription data on a variety of measures. 

    Conditions of Employment

    Grant funded position through 8/31/19. Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. through 8/31/19 is required.


     


    Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
