A Bachelor’s degree in immunology, microbiology, or a related field and five years of research experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field and four years of such experience; or a Doctorate in a related field and two years of such experience.
PhD and four years of postdoctoral research experience in immunology, microbiology, animal models, host-pathogen interactions, and/or vector biology of tick borne pathogens, including Lyme disease research experience, are preferred.
The goals of the 5-year project are:
• Develop new animal models for Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases that successfully mimic the disease in humans.
• Improve diagnostics including both molecular and serological methods for Lyme and other tick-borne diseases.
• Establish in vitro and in vivo platforms to investigate Lyme and other tick-borne diseases by identifying novel therapeutic targets and creating new strategies for treatment.
The Research Scientist IV will be responsible for oversight of all activities associated with this project including overseeing the development of diagnostic tools, new strategies for the treatment of lyme disease, presenting research findings and supervision of the individuals associated with this project.
Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
