  • Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Social/Behavioral Science, Biostatistics, or a related field and three years of research experience in the collection and evaluation of data; OR an Associate's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Social/Behavioral Science, Biostatistics, or a related field and five years of such experience; OR seven years of such experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience in public health surveillance, HIV/AIDS surveillance, or other complex surveillance systems.  Experience evaluating data quality, conducting data analysis, producing and synthesizing results for written reports, and contributing to publications. Experience with SQL and SAS. Experience working with ArcGIS or other mapping software. Strong methodological and analytical skills. Working knowledge of epidemiology and public health surveillance systems. Experience working with confidential data. Experience working in LAN based environments and MS Outlook and Office Suite. Experience conducting oral and written presentations. Excellent communication skills.

    Responsibilities

    The Program Research Specialist III will be responsible for analyzing HIV/AIDS disease surveillance data. Specific duties will include:developing and implementing statistical procedures to measure the consistency of data; developing and/or executing programs to create datasets which involve merging HIV disease surveillance data, laboratory data, and demographic data; extracting surveillance data for analysis; analyze data and interpret results; creating datasets for use in dashboard publications; developing memoranda describing data, methods, and results; developing presentation materials; conducting written and oral presentations; providing guidance and technical assistance on questions related to analysis and interpretation of HIV surveillance data; and participating in Bureau seminar/research meetings and HIV/AIDS data dissemination activities. Other related duties as assigned.

    Conditions of Employment

    Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
