A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Public Health, Chemistry, Ecology, Biology, Statistics, or a related field AND one year of experience in data management/data analysis; OR Associates degree in a related field and three years of such experience; OR five years of such experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.
The Data Administrator III will support the quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) review and validation of analytical laboratory data for fish and wildlife collected from New York State’s Great Lakes. This position will support New York State's work funded by the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI), Areas of Concern (AOC), and Lakewide Action Management Plan (LAMP) programs. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that work under these programs is conducted according to valid scientific principles in order to produce sound, defensible results. The incumbent will conduct QA/QC validation work on laboratory data, including processing and summarizing data. Specific duties include: evaluating the quality and usability of laboratory data; collaborating with external laboratories; performing advanced data entry; organizing data to facilitate statistical evaluations; assisting with data summaries and progress reports; and reviewing quality assurance project plans (QAPPs) and sampling plans. Other related duties as assigned. The incumbent's time will mainly be spent on site visits to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) office in Albany, NY, to work with the NYSDEC Division of Fish and Wildlife Quality Assurance Officer.
Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
