  • Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Social/Behavioral Science, Biostatistics, or a related field and three years of research experience in the collection and evaluation of data; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and five years of such experience; OR seven years of such experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience in public health surveillance, HIV/AIDS surveillance, or other complex surveillance systems. Experience evaluating data quality, conducting data analysis, producing and synthesizing results for written reports, and contributing to publications. Experience with SQL and SAS.

     

    Responsibilities

    The Program Research Specialist III (PRS III), in the Bureau of HIV/AIDS Epidemiology, will coordinate the data management and analysis of HIV surveillance data; coordinate program research activities related to data QA/QC, and data reporting for of HIV surveillance projects. The incumbent will coordinate the design and improvement of the database systems used for HIV surveillance and the collaborative supplemental surveillance project between NYSDOH and the NYS Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS). The incumbent will provide technical assistance for select electronic data transfers to/from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), New York City surveillance program, Blood-borne Viruses Lab at Wadsworth Center, DOCCS, the BioReference Lab and other surveillance partners, conducting analysis of longitudinal and cross-sectional Access, Excel, and or SAS data, as well as contributing to quality assurance and control (QA/QC) of surveillance data. The incumbent will also develop data reports, and research publications. Other related duties as assigned.

    Conditions of Employment

    Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
