Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of research experience; OR a Master's degree in the appropriate field and one year of research experience.
Experience in environmental microbiology and molecular biology. Experience with real time PCR and quality control standards. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
The Research Scientist I will assist in performing, analyzing and documenting results of traditional and molecular-based assays for detecting Legionella in environmental samples. The primary job function will be to develop an assay that can rapidly provide information on the viability of Legionella in samples from cooling towers and premise plumbing in residential facilities and to compare these results with those of traditional culture-based assays. The Research Scientist I will also assist in programmatic functions, including ordering and tracking of materials and supplies and performing routine quality assurance/quality control procedures. Other related duties as assigned.
Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
