  • Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in a related field and four years of experience in research, analysis, and/or evaluation of health, human services-related programs or a related field; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and six years of such experience; OR eight years of such experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of such experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

    At least three years of work experience in public health surveillance, health economics, health services research, statistics, epidemiology, health or public policy or health administration. At lease three years of experience in public health surveillance, HIV/AIDS surveillance, analysis using epidemiological principles and methodologies, SQL programming, SAS, SPSS or other statistical software, relational databases and graphical software packages. Experience with large, population-based and other health-related data sets (e.g., SPARCS, ECLRS), disease registries and working with confidential data. Experience with information technology and systems used for electronic public health reporting. Familiarity with HIV/AIDS policy issues and the protection of human subjects in research studies. Experience supervising staff. Experience presenting information to various audiences.


    The Evaluation Specialist IV will work in the Bureau of HIV/AIDS Epidemiology (BHAE). The incumbent will be responsible for the implementation of HIV surveillance data management and procedures for data collection and evaluation; responsible for the development of projects to evaluate the surveillance system, focusing on improving data quality and data management for the surveillance program; responsible for HIV/AIDS case surveillance activities; supervise staff; represent the Bureau of HIV/AIDS Epidemiology; and other appropriate related duties as assigned.

    Conditions of Employment

    Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.  


    Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
