Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a physical science or related field, such as:biochemistry, molecular biology cell biology, and other biological sciences. Experience with molecular cloning and protein biochemistry, mammalian cell biology, florescence light microscopy, electron microscopy and related specimen preparation, and/ or vacuum equipment. Experience with computational image processing using python, java programming or other script languages and Linux system.

Responsibilities

The Laboratory Technician will provide support towards studies of macromolecular assemblies and organelles in their functional context using transmission electron microscopy (EM). The incumbents will assist with the following responsibilities: mammalian cell growth, evaluation and live cell imaging data collection using fluorescence light microscopy; simple molecular cloning, recombinant protein expression and purification using methods of chromatography; EM specimen preparation for cells or isolated protein complexes; Cryo-EM image data collection, and simple/routine computational image processing; and daily lab maintenance. The incumbents may also perform other appropriate related duties as assigned.
