Experience performing molecular assays; experience performing biochemical assays; coursework in human genetics or molecular biology; coursework in biochemistry or chemistry; experience working in a lab.
The Senior Laboratory Technician will work in the NYS Newborn Screening Program on a grant-funded project. The primary lab responsibilities will be to support and assist with molecular and biochemical testing of newborn blood spots. Techniques utilized may include PCR, real-time quantitative PCR (qPCR), digital droplet PCR (ddPCR), DNA extraction, Sanger sequencing, flow injection analysis tandem mass spectrometry (FIA-MS/MS), and high-performance liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS). Additional responsibilities will include assisting with specimen accessioning, ordering, and routine lab maintenance. Other related duties as assigned.
