Experience in an analytical organic laboratory; experience with sample preparation and analysis of biological/clinical specimens for organic chemicals analysis; experience operating a LC-MS, GC-MS, automated SPE or other related technique.

The Assistant Research Scientist will support the Wadsworth Center’s Division of Environmental Health Sciences large-scale biomonitoring studies, specifically by assisting to analyze clinical samples for (ultra-) trace levels of organic chemicals using techniques based on chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (LC/GC-MS) and gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The incumbent will also maintain appropriate laboratory documentation, prepare quality control samples, process data, assist to prepare reports and standard operating procedures, and perform other appropriate related research duties.

The Wadsworth Center is New York State Department of Health’s research and public health laboratory. Within the Center’s Division of Environmental Health Sciences, one of the primary goals is to assess human exposure to toxic chemicals (e.g., heavy metals, PFAS, pesticides, PAHs) that are present in the air we breathe, the food we eat, and the water we drink.
