Experience working in a clinical testing environment; experience performing qPCR and/or DNA extraction; experience testing samples in high-throughput format; coursework or experience in molecular biology, virology, microbiology, medical technology or genetics.
The incumbent will assist in validating and setting up a molecular screening assay for the detection of congenital cytomegalovirus in newborns, rolling out the assay in a newborn screening setting and performing day to day screening. The incumbent will assist with performing DNA extraction and real-time qPCR to screen newborn dried blood spots for congenital cytomegalovirus. The incumbent will also assist with specimen accessioning and punching; assist with performing qPCR assay validation and optimization studies; assist with performing quality control and assurance activities; assist with drafting standard operating procedures, preparing lab data files, and entering patient results into a database. The incumbent will assist with other appropriate related dutiesExtract DNA and perform qPCR on dried blood spot samples. Other related duties as assigned.
