At least three years of experience in medical technology, microbiology or molecular biology, health education, communications. Experience providing training and/or education in either in person or virtual formats. Demonstrated excellent communication, interpersonal, written and organizational skills. Demonstrated experience working independently and as a member of a team. Demonstrated proficiency utilizing current computer technology.
The Training Specialist I will work within the Wadsworth Center's Division of Infectious Diseases to provide outreach, education and training for both internal and external partners. The incumbent will contribute to workforce development activities that promote the visibility of and encourage interest in public health laboratory careers and support education and training programs for the Division. These efforts to enhance the laboratory workforce pipeline will support rapid large scale public health responses needed to manage the COVID 19 pandemic and other public health emergencies.
Duties will include, but are not limited to, contributing to the development of relationships with educational partners to grow the public health laboratory workforce, maintaining ongoing outreach activities such as support for submitters of COVID and other infectious disease specimens to DID laboratories, and generation of internal and external communication materials.
This position is supported by the New York State Public Health Corps Fellowship Program.
Successful completion of the Cornell University Public Health Essentials certificate program will be required.
