The incumbent will work with grantees and other program staff to contribute to the development of annual grantee workplans and budgets; evaluate contract performance through monitoring grantee monthly reporting, conduct grantee site visits/desk audits; work with program managers to conduct orientations for new fiscal agents and project coordinators; refer problems and issues to appropriate bureau staff; identify additional contractor training and technical assistance needs; organize and facilitate regional contractor meetings; provide relevant information and resources; work collaboratively with program staff; and perform other appropriate related duties.   The incumbent will also provide technical assistance on best practices for the completion of deliverables that address the obesity crisis in New York State that was severely exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Tasks will include increasing active transportation opportunities, adoption and implementation of food service guidelines in worksites and community-based organizations, and the integration of physical activity and nutrition standards into high need school districts. In addition, the incumbent will participate and contribute to program and BCCDP monthly meetings.   The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated the obesity crisis and contributed to a critical public health problem that has been accelerating in the last decade. A 2021 American Psychological Association (APA) survey found 42% of American adults gained an average 29 pounds during the pandemic; another recent study in The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) showed an increase in overweight and obesity among children ages 5 to 11 from 36.2% to 45.7% during the pandemic.   This position is supported by the New York State Public Health Corps Fellowship Program. Successful completion of the Public Health Essentials certificate program will be required. This is a grant funded position, expected to last approximately one year.
